Serving Makes Us Stronger

Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. Mark 10:43 NIV

Serving makes us stronger. Unfortunately for us, we don’t always believe that deep down in our heart and soul. We often think that we lose when we serve. We worry about what we give up or that someone might not appreciate us or, worse yet, might take advantage of us.
This week, build your confidence in Jesus’ words that being a servant makes you great. Find something to do for someone that helps them, but brings no benefit to you except the joy of serving and the joy of knowing that your serving is making you greater.

See the Goodness

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8 NIV

You will not make progress in becoming like Jesus or in experiencing his life in you unless you have a clear vision of the goodness of becoming like him and experiencing his life in you. If you “see” the beautiful goodness of Jesus and the life he offers you, you will be motivated and focused to trust Him to help you live that kind of life. Each day this week, spend a few minutes thinking about the fruit of the Spirit as listed in Galatians 5:22-23. Imagine yourself living with this fruit growing and flowing in your life. Would that be enjoyable and fulfilling? Of course! As you think about this fruit, ask the Father to change you from the inside out so that this fruit does grow and flow from inside you. Ask him to show you what steps you can take to move in this direction.
